High School-Age Alumni Programs

CEP's programs for high school-age alumni are modeled on our school-year CivicWeek programs, designed to bring diverse groups of outstanding high school students for intense service-learning immersion experiences in host communities around the country. Participants reconnect
with friends and meet other alumni from across the country, all of whom bring reflections on their shared CEP experience and a passion for continuing to address social issues through civic engagement. CEP's high school-aged alumni programs are generally one week long, focus a specific set of social issues, and take place in the summer.

CEP is offering a program for high school-aged alumni for Summer 2008. Please contact our office at 847-467-2572 or cep@northwestern.edu for more information.

College-Age Alumni Programs

CEP's College-Age Alumni Programs are less formal, but more in-depth versions of CEP's school year programs, designed specifically to help our best and brightest alumni take the CEP experience to the next level. Programs are generally one week long and take place in late December and early January, during the typical college winter break. In the past, our alumni have traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio, where they focused their volunteer efforts on issues of race and social justice, and to Des Moines, Iowa, where they had the opportunity to volunteer with local political campaigns just days before the 2004 Iowa caucus.

There are no College-Age Alumni Programs currently scheduled for this year. Please check back for information about future programs. If there are any particular locations or topics you would like to explore for our next alumni program, please email your ideas to us at cep@northwestern.edu.

No matter what the location or focus issue, all programs provide participants with the opportunity to:

  • connect with other amazing alumni
  • participate in facilitated round-table discussions about activism and social awareness
  • explore complex social issues on a whole new level
  • network with inspired young activists from schools all around the country
  • brainstorm concrete ways to maximize your school experience as an opportunity for personal growth and positive social change
  • spend some quality time with CEP alumni staff
  • catch up with old friends, and make some new ones!
