How do engineers choose the right materials for their inventions?
In this project-based course, students pull back the curtain to learn about the wizardry of Materials Science & Engineering, which is the study of what gives materials their unique properties and how to bend nature’s rules to make things stronger, lighter, interactive, and more useful. Students will explore shape-memory alloys, discover how atoms arrange themselves in crystal structures, study the phase changes of ice cream, and learn about photolithography through screen printing.
