Center for Talent Development (CTD) is housed within Northwestern University’s School of Education and Social Policy (SESP). SESP’s Master of Science in Education program offers a Teacher Leadership concentration designed to provide certified teachers, who have three or more years of teaching experience, the opportunity to enhance their professional skills and increase their earning potential. Several members of the CTD leadership team teach courses on gifted education within the program.
Students in the Teacher Leadership concentration customize their course work by choosing a focus area. Possible focus areas include (but are not limited to) the following: Mathematics, Science, Literacy, & The Gifted.
The Certificate of Advanced Study in Education, with a focus in gifted instruction, is designed to help certified teachers better meet the unique needs of gifted students in a variety of settings, including mixed-ability classrooms, schools for gifted students and gifted pull-out programs.
All teachers will receive a scholarship for 25% off each class. Additional full or partial scholarships are available. Participants receive a full graduate credit for each course which is equivalent to 2 2/3 semester hours. Classes meet either one week, two weeks, or online.
This Summer's one-week intensive will be held July 10 to July 14, and focus on differentiating instruction for gifted learners.
