This is a 9-week, asynchronous, flexibly paced course within the Online Core Essentials Program. Students should expect 2-5 hours of course work per week. This course takes place January 17 - March 20, 2024.
Linked to the national core standards, Introduction to Pre-Algebra courses provide a rigorous foundation in elementary mathematics. Through exploration, practice and application, students develop skills to deepen their understanding of mathematical ideas and apply them to real world settings.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will:
- Know the basic geometric terms and shapes.
- Understand different properties and shapes, how to covert units of measurement, symmetry, perimeter, area, and volume, and the use and application of a coordinate plane.
- Be able to identify a variety of shapes, properties, and apply the proper algebraic equations to the geometric shapes.
Note:
- Students may participate in any or all of these courses, beginning in any session.
- "Numbers & Algebraic Thinking" recommended as first course in sequence
- Completion of all three (Introduction to Pre-Algebra: Numbers & Algebraic Thinking, Introduction to Pre-Algebra: Geometry & Measurement, Introduction to Pre-Algebra: Data, Statistics, & Probability) prepares students for Pre-Algebra.
