Giftedness and Talent Development: What’s the Difference?

March 14, 2023
12:30pm - 1:30pm CDT
Online

Please note new start time of 12:30 p.m. CT!

Most people tend to view giftedness as an immutable, inherited characteristic—typically equated with a high IQ. However, the field of gifted education has shifted to a greater focus on talent development and a view of ability as malleable. This focus puts greater emphasis on cultivating ability, growing giftedness and developing psychosocial skills that support achievement. In this session, Dr. Paula Olszewski-Kubilius, Director of the Center for Talent Development and Professor in the School of Education and Social Policy, will share her research on talent development and discuss what the findings mean for young people and their education.

Location: Virtual, presented by the Northwestern Alumni Association
