Pre-Algebra II (6-8)

This is a flexibly paced course. Students have up to 9 weeks to complete the course. Students should expect 2-5 hours of coursework per week. This course takes place January 17 - March 20, 2024.

This course is a continuation of Pre-Algebra I. Topics include variables, expressions, and integers, solving equations and inequalities, factors, fractions, and exponents, rational numbers, ratio and proportions, and percent. Successful completion of this two-course series provides a solid foundation for Algebra I Honors.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will:

  • Know how to simplify expressions including irrational numbers, identify angle relationships and choose the correct formula to solve a problem.
  • Understand the rules of probability, how angle relationships determine angle measure, and applications of formulas such as slope-intercept form, Pythagorean Theorem, volume, area and surface area.
  • Graph linear equations on the coordinate plane, find the missing measurements in right triangles, analyze and apply formulas to real world situations.

Prerequisite: Pre-Algebra I or instructor’s consent.
