2024 Fall Online Programs

CTD offers a wide range of enrichment and accelerated, credit-bearing online courses for students PreK through grade 12. Unlike so-called "click and next" online classes, CTD's Online Program courses are designed and led by expert instructors who provide personalized guidance, feedback, and one-on-one attention. Courses provide flexible pacing, which allows students to fit course work into their busy schedules, and opportunities to collaborate and connect with other advanced learners from around the world. Check out our wide variety of summer options for gifted students, ranging from online courses to in-person, academic day and residential camps, held on Northwestern’s Evanston campus and at other Chicago area sites. Information for the 2025 Summer Programs will be posted in early-January 2025.

Leadership and Service Learning Programs

Through innovative school-year and summer programs and online courses, CTD's Civic Education Project (CEP) offers young people opportunities to learn and serve in communities across the country, developing the knowledge, experience, and leadership skills they need to make a positive impact on the world. CTD Assessment Guide
CTD Assessment

Assessment for talent development is aimed at identifying strengths and determining the need for enrichment, acceleration, or supplemental programming. CTD offers a variety of grade-level and above-grade-level testing options for students. Choosing a test will depend on a student's age, experience in school, experience with testing, and the objectives for doing the assessment. Available tests include the following:

  • MAP (grade-level)
  • KTEA-3
  • CogAT (grade-level and above-grade-level)
  • SAT and ACT (above-grade-level)

Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholars

The Young Scholars Program, a selective five-year pre-college scholarship for high-performing middle school students with financial need, is the largest scholarship of its kind in the nation. It provides individualized academic advising, financial support, and a pathway to the foundation’s $55,000 per year College Scholarship. CTD works with educators and schools to help them meet the needs of advanced and gifted students. CTD provides a range of resources and services, including consulting; program reviews; professional learning; above-grade-level assessment and data analysis; enrichment and accelerated courses for students; and job opportunities for educators.
